IMPORTANT INFORMATION: This position requires military membership in the Puerto Rico Army National Guard (PRARNG). If you are not a military member of the PRARNG (i.e., Airman, civilian, active-duty Soldier, prior service, guard member from another state, reservist, IRR, State Guard, etc.), you must contact the Recruiting and Retention (R&R) Office at (787) 289-1400 extension 2015 or 2008 and request the PRARNG Military Basic Requirements (MBR) Certification. If the MBR certification is not submitted, or you do not meet the requirements to be a member of the PRARNG, your application will not be screened. AREA OF CONSIDERATION: HRO MUST process and clear the Department of Defense (DoD), Priority Placement Program (PPP), prior to advertising all internal and external job vacancies and promotion announcements. Area 1 = All permanent Technician Enlisted employee's members (NG T32/NG T5) within Puerto Rico Army National Guard. Area 2 = All indefinite Technician Enlisted employee's members (NG T32/NG T5) within Puerto Rico Army National Guard. Area 3 = Enlisted currently serving members of the Puerto Rico Army National Guard. Area 4 = Enlisted Prior (former) members of the Puerto Rico Army National Guard. Area 6 = Applicants who meet all requirements to become Enlisted members of the Puerto Rico Army National Guard. (If the MBR certification is not submitted, your application will not be screened). First round consideration will be given to Area 1 Candidates. (All other Areas will be screened only in the event that there are no qualified or recommended Candidates). To prevent a grade inversion, military rank allowed for this position will be determined at the final evaluation of the vacancy announcement considering the military rank of the supervisor. Acceptance of any military technician position may cause the termination of entitlements and eligibility for all military bonuses and student loan repayments. DUTIES: As a TOOLS AND PARTS ATTENDANT (D1228000), WG-6904-6, you will determine, identify, and select for issue, items described by users in terms of their intended usage; recommending possible substitutes and interchangeable items; determining work sequences, methods, procedures, and techniques for setting up and shifting storage locations; and determining when tools and equipment should be routed to appropriate shops for test, repair, or calibration. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is performed on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries tools, parts, supplies, and equipment weighing up to10 pounds. May occasionally handle items that weigh up to 40 pounds. Hand trucks, dollies, and other workers are available for assistance with heavier items. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is generally performed in areas that are well lighted, heated, and ventilated. May occasionally work inside in areas that are drafty. Work is sometimes dirty, dusty, and greasy. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of trade; ability to apply identification skill (matching specific item names, models, and stock or part numbers with similar specific information at stock locations); ability to use simple hand tools (pliers, screwdrivers, etc.) and to follow oral and written instructions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must possess at least ONE (1) year in the occupational series code 6904 or the equivalent NINE (9) months of specialized experience performing or supervising duties such as conducting periodic inventory and determines the basis for over, short, or misplaced items; compiling records concerned with quantity, cost, and type of material received, stored, and issued in a department, establishment, account, or on a particular job; using reference sources such as federal catalogs, stock lists, or other publications; verifying that tools and equipment are maintained in good condition; establishing stock location by considering such factors as use, size, shape and weight of items; identifying correct nomenclature and stock number of items in order to locate stock for issue; performing maintenance such as replacing wooden handles on handsaws, changing blades on power saws, and greasing or oiling power and hand tools; making minor repairs to tools and equipment, determining when damaged and inoperative items; identify specific items requested by users from descriptions of their intended usage, and to suggest, in the absence of requested items, substitute, and interchangeable items that might fit user's requirements.
